Everything I'd Tell a New Mom Friend to Buy

Third time around, and I still have a list. Baby Jack is here and we are deep in the newborn bubble! These are the products that are actually getting me through it. Some I've had since Teddy, some I discovered with Oliver, and a few I found this time around. All of them earn their place.

This is everything I'd tell a new mom friend to buy.

Postpartum Recovery

No-Sting Spritz - Peri Bottle
They give you one in the hospital. This one is better, it sprays upwards. If you tear at all, this is non-negotiable.

Electric Heating Pad
Started using this in the hospital for postpartum contractions. Still using it. At this point it's less of a medical device and more of an emotional support item, but either way - pack it.

Pyjamas
Soft, easy, effortless. Exactly what you want to live in when you're healing. These are my favorite Amazon PJ’s, I wear size L.

Postpartum Underwear
Hospital bag non-negotiable, iykyk. High-waist, disposable, and a total lifesaver.

Newborn Favorites

The Nanit
Out of everything, and I mean everything, between me and my mom friends, this one is the unanimous favorite. Tracking sleep, knowing what's happening in there, seeing when they finally start hitting those longer stretches, it's a non-negotiable for me. I had pretty bad postpartum anxiety with my first, and honestly the breathing band alone made it worth it. That peace of mind in the early weeks is everything

Hatch Sound Machine
I already have these in the big kids' rooms. For Baby Jack, I use it for sound but my favorite hack: when baby wakes up early from a nap and starts fussing, I'll switch the sound or music and sometimes it just… stuns them back to sleep. Works more often than it should. For the toddlers? Red means stay in your room, green means you can come out. The only reason I don't have two small people at my bedside at 5am.

Easy Swaddle Wrap
Real talk - I am on my third child and I still cannot swaddle. I bring these to the hospital every single time because I am completely brain dead after delivery and when the nurses try to show me the technique, I stare at them blankly. These save me every time.

Bodysuits
I love Baby Mori for the softest pieces, and then I stock up on simple white Carter's basics alongside them. Genuinely, you don't need more than that.

Play Gym
Had this for both kids, just got a fresh one for Jack. Newborn through around six months, I never really know what to do with a baby and this never fails. They all lose their minds for it.

Baby Björn Bouncer
Already had this with Teddy and Oliver and just pulled it back out. Gives you a moment with your hands free - which as a mom of three, I will take every single time.

Baby Carrier
I wore Oliver so much more than I wore Teddy, just because with two kids you need your hands free constantly. With three, I'm fully expecting to be wearing Jack a lot. Bumpsuit's carriers are also genuinely chic, which absolutely matters.

Baby Brezza
I didn't use this much with Oliver even though he was formula-fed, but since I've shared that I'm skipping breastfeeding this time, I wanted it ready.

Diaper Caddies
One upstairs, one downstairs, both fully stocked. My hack: I keep a few puppy pee pads in each one. If you need to change on a bed or a rug, you put one down and suddenly you have a clean surface. I also keep them in my diaper bag. Complete game changer.

Bath Kneeling Pad
With a newborn, bath time is slow and careful and you are on your knees for a while. Got a fresh one of these. Bonus: it doubles as bath toy storage.

Aquaphor
An absolute staple. Always. Just buy it.

I hope this saves you from some of the trial and error I went through the first two times around. These are the things I keep coming back to, and the ones I told my friends about the second they asked.
